Haunting of the Mind

“When You’re Bored,” by Quinn Mills, is a fast-paced confession of a soul in turmoil. Left to his own devices, Mills explores the wicked inner workings of the mind when there is no distraction in which to hide.  The lyrics and musical arrangements are evocative and thought provoking.

Love gone wrong is the issue at hand here and Mills is brilliant in his pleas for mercy and relief from his constant ruminations.  “I’m only human darling, and I’ve made mistakes before” is just one line that exposes the pain and anguish of a broken heart that has now fractured an otherwise lucid mind.

“It’s universal,” Mills explained. “We all (at some point) get hurt and live inside our tortured minds afterwards. But there’s relief to be gained from expressing that pain.”

Mills’ latest uses an adrenaline charged tempo to simulate the emotional upheaval about which he writes.  Strategic placement of modifiers and mood markers distinguish this piece as one that will remain with listeners long after they have tuned out.

“The kid is very talented and knows how to reach an audience,” said Tom Petrone, co-founder of MP Music House. “This is quality music that contains a very real message.”

"When You're Bored" will drop on October 25, 2019.
