Atticus Jones "A Woman and A Man"

When one heart attaches itself to another, it blooms. It beats with a vitality and beauty unknown before. But when that same heart is forced to exist independently, even for a brief time, the struggle is palpable. The rhythmic, spirited beating becomes faint and timorous.

The pain is very real. And it lasts, until that heart is reunited with its counterpart.

Atticus Jones’ “A Woman and a Man” captures the essence of the  struggle of “goodbye,” a painful ordeal that many have experienced before. A heartfelt song  with a feel best described as Springsteen meets Dylan, Jones’ latest speaks to the universal longing we feel when forced to dwell in the absence of our true love.

Jones’ stirring track tells the story of an artist who spends the majority of his time on the road. Although he’s presently home, it’s time again to say goodbye to his love as the demands of his next gig cannot wait any longer. The parting is marked by tears, regret and disconsolation, for each of them knows they will carry with them loneliness and despair until the day that they  may once again be united.

“AJ hits on something very powerful, very real here,” said Tom Petrone, co-founder of MP Music House. “Those of us who have to travel for a living, especially musicians, often have a difficult time balancing the call of the road with what (and who) they are forced to leave behind. And it happens over and over again.”
